Welcome & Team
Enquiring minds and adventurous souls looking for a senior school to inspire, nurture, challenge and support them need look no further.
This is the place where boys and girls learn, question, wonder and imagine. It is where children grow into young men and women of conscience, compassion and competence. Hard work in the classroom is balanced with a broad range of extra-curricular pursuits. Musically-minded and sporty children will find plenty here to excite them; we are highly accomplished on both fronts.
Most children join us into Year 7 but we do admit pupils into other year groups, subject to availability. The September intake is a combination of the Year 6 children from our preparatory school Barlborough Hall and typically the same number again from other schools. The children are carefully mixed and new friendships quickly form.
We operate a homeroom system for Year 7, designed to ease the transition from primary school to college life. Each homeroom tutor takes responsibility for the wellbeing, happiness and progress of the children in their charge, typically up to 20 pupils. They take the morning and afternoon register and teach their class the core subjects of English, mathematics, humanities and religious education in the homeroom. Pupils move elsewhere for lessons with subject specialists in science, languages, classics, physical education and music.
