Grounds & Facilities
Our rural grounds are both stunning and sprawling. The union of traditional buildings, with charm and character aplenty, with modern facilities and well equipped classrooms works well. For details about hiring our facilities click here.
Barlborough Hall, a 16th century mansion house, is nestled within 30 acres of breath-taking grounds that include an historic arboretum and lake. Fresh air and fields is very much the order of the day. You will likely pass ponies and pheasants as you travel down the private drive to the school house and may see sheep grazing in a field at the foot of the site. Secluded, peaceful and beautiful. There is no shortage here of outdoor space for sports, play, woodland exploration and discovery.
Inside there is much to marvel at. Our Prep School has a theatre, dance studio, heated indoor swimming pool, chapel and specialist teaching rooms for art, music, science and ICT. The charm and character of the building makes for quirky classrooms; the perfect setting for creative teaching and learning.
Mount St Mary’s College is located in the neighbouring village of Spinkhill, a mere few minutes’ drive away. The leafy 70 acre site is sheltered by mature trees while school buildings encircle the Jesuit Lawn. The outer fringes of the land are monopolised for sport, including a first class Olympic-standard athletics track overlooked by a pavilion, six rugby pitches, four football pitches, two cricket wickets, an all-weather floodlit pitch and two tennis courts. Nuffield Health has a fitness and wellbeing centre on site, including a heated indoor pool.
Within the College buildings are a theatre, recital hall, two chapels, a medical centre, two rifle ranges, a fencing salle and, of course, the expected full range of classrooms and laboratories.
