BBC Look North visit Mount St Mary’s College

Wednesday 21st March was an exciting day for all at Mount St Mary’s College when the BBC paid a visit to the school as part of their Sports Relief Sofa Challenge.

The challenge saw BBC Look North presenters Harry, Amy and Paul push the Look North sofa more than 100 miles to 50 locations around Yorkshire to raise money for Sport Relief and to celebrate their 50th birthday.

As the team arrived in the village they were greeted by Barlborough Hall and Mount St Mary’s pupils, parents, staff and local residents as they were cheered up Spinkhill Lane and down the school driveway. After a long journey to Spinkhill the team were pushed for time but made it to the school chapel in time for live filming of BBC Look North at 6:30pm.

Amy Garcia, part of the Look North team, was overwhelmed when she entered the school chapel and heard the school choir singing for their arrival. It was a truly special moment for everyone involved.

Thank you to everyone who was involved and a huge thank you to the BBC for choosing our special school as a place to visit as part of their Sports Relief Sofa Challenge.
