A great day at our Techman Rugby Festival
Sam Haddock, a student at Barlborough Hall has been very busy over the past few months organising the Techman Rugby Festival which took place on Wednesday 27th September.
The event was organised to raise money for Ready; a charity who raise money to help young people with disabilities play sport and take part in healthy activities for fun and fitness. Sam believes that everyone should have the opportunity to play sport and wanted to organise the Techman Rugby Festival to raise awareness of sport with disabilities and to make a contribution to the work Ready do.
The Techman Rugby Festival took place at Barlborough Hall School with many teams from local schools taking part in rugby matches throughout the day. The event also included activities for children to experience what it is like to play sport with a disability, a talk with Sean Jones; a wheelchair athlete on his experience and an ice cream van for a treat during the day!
Ready said “It’s incredible to see youngsters like Sam showing such passion to help kids the same age as them, get involved in sport. As an able bodied Rugby player, Sam knows first-hand the benefits sport has for him and he wants to make sure that those with a disability get to share in that enjoyment”.
Sam had support from numerous sponsors and has raised over £3,000 for Ready so far. You can still support the event by donating here.
